A look back at Seanergy 2024

Innovation

Seanergy, the marine energy exhibition, took place in Nantes from June 26 to 28, 2024. Here’s a look back at the three days.

Day 1

The meeting point was at 8:30 a.m. at the Pays de la Loire Region pavilion. This is where WEAMEC and Centrale Nantes shared a “corner” during the two days of the exhibition. After coffee and a team briefing, the exhibition got off to a flying start with a large morning turnout.

There was no time to waste for the team, who headed to the Workinblue area to meet with APEC Pays de la Loire to sign a partnership agreement to strengthen the already very strong ties between the two organizations. This joint commitment aims to boost the marine renewable energy job market.

At the end of the afternoon on this first day, we headed to the Agora area for Maritime Innovation Day with the Secretary of State for the Sea and Biodiversity and the Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs, Fisheries, and Aquaculture. Two round tables were organized on the topics of sustainability in the sector and co-use, where we were able to attend some truly high-quality presentations.

This first day ended on a high note with the “Seanergy Party,” which this year had a Mexican theme. It was a real success, with sunshine and warmth in abundance!

Day 2

The second and final day of the exhibition for the WEAMEC team was marked by the award ceremony for the winners of the WEAMEC calls for projects. This was a highlight and eagerly awaited moment for the team and researchers, rewarding the work accomplished by the teams. Held in the Pays de la Loire Region pavilion, this event was an opportunity to share and exchange ideas with our colleagues.

Day 3

The last day of the Seanergy trade show was devoted to technical visits to sites and test platforms in the region. One group was able to visit the ocean engineering test basins at Centrale Nantes, as well as the composite hall and the supercomputer.

Summary

The 8th edition of the international forum dedicated to marine energy brought together more than 3,500 French and international players (industrialists, experts, researchers, institutions, etc.) over two days, with around 200 exhibitors and numerous conferences, reflecting the current momentum in this promising sector, which is contributing to the energy transition towards a carbon-free world.
